Happy Tuesday church family! Here’s what you need to know for this week...

CELEBRATING | FOSTER SUPPORT FAITH ALLIANCE LUNCHEON

This week we're celebrating our continued participation in the Foster Support Faith Alliance, and the event we helped host for them this past week. At the luncheon event last week your generosity helped Sound City Bible Church serve a catered meal to the hard-working Lynnwood Department of Social & Health Services staff team, in the name of Christ. Their team was blown away, encouraged, and very thankful. Join us this week in prayer and thanksgiving for the opportunities God continues to give us to serve both: kids in need, and the under appreciated folks that serve them. Pray that God would help them to see our service to them as the Father's love for them, and that through outreach ministry activities like these, many would come to know Jesus in a saving way.

THIS WEEK AT SOUND CITY BIBLE CHURCH

THIS SUNDAY’S SERMON | GOSPEL OF JOHN | JOHN 3:22–36

Over the past few weeks in the Book of John, we have seen example after example of how Jesus’ life and ministry is greater than anything that has come before. Jesus made better wine. Jesus promised a better temple. Jesus offers a better cure for sin than Moses. And now, in John 3:22–36, we now have an opportunity to see that the ministry of Jesus is greater than the ministry of John the Baptizer. But, we also see that this makes John’s disciples jealous.

This week we'll also have an opportunity to confront our own sins of pride and jealousy, and an opportunity to experience Jesus’ greater grace! Join us this Sunday as we learn about all this and more as we dig into John 3:22–36 together.

THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 3PM–5PM | STUDENT MINISTRY SCAVENGER HUNT

We've got another fun Student Ministry event coming up soon! For all you 6th-12th graders, come meet up with us at the church offices in Lynnwood (4720 200th Street SW, Suite 200) at 3:00pm for a Student Ministry Scavenger Hunt! Our Student Ministry leaders will be driving the students all over the Lynnwood/Alderwood area for this little adventure, which will end at 5pm at the Alderwood Mall Food Court (just inside the mall entrance near the Lowe's Theater and Starbucks). Students, invite your friends, and bring along a little cash to treat yourself to some frozen yogurt at the mall after the hunt. Don't forget to sign the release form below!

THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12 | FINAL CONNECT GROUP MEETING OF 2017

During the holiday season, which is fast approaching, our Connect Group will be pressing pause to take it's own Thanksgiving break and Christmas vacation as well. On Sunday, November 12, from 3pm–5pm, we'll be hosting the final Connect Group gathering of this year, and then we'll be kicking things off again on Sunday, January 7, 2018. If you're new to the church, or are not currently part of a Community Group, and want to learn more and/or register for Connect Group, click the button below.

NOVEMBER 19 — SAVE THE DATE | FAMILY GATHERING & POTLUCK

Mark your calendars now for Sunday, November 19 for our upcoming Church Family Gathering at Lynnwood High School after our morning services. We’ll start with a potluck at 12:30, and then the meeting portion of our time (back in the theater) will follow, between 1:30pm–3:00pm.

We’ll be providing church and ministry updates, looking at what’s ahead, celebrating all that God’s been doing in and through Sound City Bible Church, and spending some time in prayer as well. While this meeting is primarily for those already committed to the church as Covenant Members and those pursuing membership in the near future, all those who call Sound City home are encouraged to attend.

CHRISTMAS EVE DAY SERVICES | 8:00AM, 9:45AM, and 11:30AM

christmastree.jpg

As we enter into the holiday season, and our thoughts turn toward Christmas and the birth of Jesus, we wanted to give you some save the date info to help you along in your holiday calendaring. This year is a little different for us, since Christmas Eve itself falls on a Sunday. So instead of the evening services that we usually do on Christmas Eve evening, this year we'll be hosting three morning services on Christmas Eve day, at: 8:00am, 9:45am, and 11:30am. Kids Ministry will be available in all three services for kiddos age four and under only, with the older kids joining in the main services with their parents. Mark your calendars now for Christmas Eve morning, and join us as we celebrate the birth of our Lord together.

FEATURED RESOURCE

This week our Featured Resource is a pair of posts from the Gospel Coalition highlighting a theme that's central to this coming Sunday's sermon—Pride.

In one post the subtlety of pride is in focus, while in the other post it's the severity and seriousness of pride that's on display.
