Happy Tuesday church family! Here’s what you need to know for this week...
CELEBRATING | COMMUNITY MINISTRIES FRUIT
In May of this year, we launched our permanently-temporary Community Group called, the Connect Group. It’s goal was/is to be a welcoming place: to learn about biblical community, to meet new friends, to experience the fruit of doing life together, and to finding good long-term group homes for all those who are new to the church and/or who aren’t otherwise experiencing the kind of community God desires for us all. This week we’re celebrating all that God’s done over the last six months in that regard! First, we’re so thankful for God’s gifting of Myeong Hong and Michael Eller who have led this charge so faithfully, and who have encouraged so many into a deeper experience of biblical community. We’re also celebrating that 35 people have found new Community Groups through the Connect Group (including the launch of 2 entirely new groups that formed and sent out directly from the Connect Group itself). We’re also celebrating finding new groups for an additional 13 people outside of the Connect Group process as well—for a total of 48 people finding a group to call home since May! With the holiday season fast approaching, the Connect Group is pressing pause for a few weeks. But in the mean time, please join us in prayer and thanksgiving for all these evidences of God's grace to us. And if you’re not currently in a Community Group register now at scbc.do/connectgroup to join us weekly, as the Connect Group starts up again in the new year, on Sunday, January 7, 2018.
THIS WEEK AT SOUND CITY BIBLE CHURCH
THIS SUNDAY’S SERMON | GOSPEL OF JOHN | JOHN 4:1–19
Over the next two weeks, we’ll be looking at the conversation between Jesus and a Samaritan woman from John 4. This Sunday, we’ll focus on verses 1–19 and ask the question of ourselves, “what are we truly thirsty for?”
Join us on Sunday as we consider the desires of our hearts, and how our desires are meant to find their deepest fulfillment in Jesus.
THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19 | FAMILY GATHERING & POTLUCK
Join us this Sunday, November 19, for our next Church Family Gathering at Lynnwood High School after our morning services. We’ll start the potluck at 12:30 (please love your church family by bringing a non-potato chip dish to pass) and then for the meeting portion of our time we'll be back in the theater from 1:30pm–3:00pm.
We’ll be providing church and ministry updates, looking at what’s ahead, celebrating all that God’s been doing in and through Sound City Bible Church in recent months, and spending some time in prayer as well. While this meeting is primarily for those already committed to the church as Covenant Members, and those pursuing membership in the near future, all those who call Sound City home are encouraged to attend. Limited childcare is available for those who register in advance for children four years of age and younger.

- December 20 | No Student Ministry (Christmas Break)

CHRISTMAS EVE DAY SERVICES | 8:00AM, 9:45AM, and 11:30AM
As we enter into the holiday season, and our thoughts turn toward Christmas and the birth of Jesus, we wanted to give you some save the date info to help you along in your holiday calendaring. This year is a little different for us, since Christmas Eve itself falls on a Sunday. So instead of the evening services that we usually do on Christmas Eve evening, this year we'll be hosting three morning services on Christmas Eve day, at: 8:00am, 9:45am, and 11:30am. Kids Ministry will be available in all three services for kiddos age four and under only, with the older kids joining in the main services with their parents. Mark your calendars now for Christmas Eve morning, and join us as we celebrate the birth of our Lord together.
This week our Featured Resources are focused on a topic we can't escape if we've turned on the news at all in the last several weeks—sexual harassment and abuse allegations leveled at those in positions of influence in Hollywood and well beyond. It's important not only that we're aware of what's now going on, but also that we think carefully about how God would have us respond, and how he'd have us do so in a uniquely Christian way. We hope these resources are helpful to you in that regard.
