Happy Tuesday church family! Here’s what you need to know for this week...
CELEBRATING | IDENTITY GROUPS
This past Sunday night we hosted the Celebration Night for the Fall 2017 run of Identity Groups. As many of you know, Identity Groups is an eleven-week, gospel focused, redemptive care study for all those struggling through trials in life and other forms of suffering, and for all those realizing their need to ground their identity more fully in Christ instead of in past or present hurts and circumstances. During the celebration night we got to hear testimony after testimony of all God's been doing in the lives of these men and women in that regard, and it was a great joy to celebrate this gospel progress together. Please join us this week in prayer and thanksgiving for our Identity Groups Ministry, and for all these evidences of God's grace to us. Our Identity Groups Ministry will officially be pressing pause over the next several months, but don't let that stop you from reaching out if you're struggling to ground your identity in Jesus. We can often find creative ways to encourage and help even though we don't yet have a date for the next official Identity Groups Study.
THIS WEEK AT SOUND CITY BIBLE CHURCH
THIS SUNDAY’S SERMON | GOSPEL OF JOHN | JOHN 4:19–42
This Sunday, we continue to listen in to the conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman. In John 4:19–42, the conversation turns to the theological, about the nature of true worship of God.
These verses also give us a picture of what it looks like when the gospel has truly gripped the heart of a person, namely that they want to go tell everybody they can. Join us on Sunday as we dive into the intersection of worship and mission found in this passage.

ADVENT WITH FRIENDS | NEW SERMON SERIES
During this year's Advent season, we're doing something a little different. We're joining up with three other area churches—three local partners in the gospel—to walk through this season and sermon series together. Each Sunday during the series, we'll have a pastor from one of these partner churches joining us to help us grow in understanding, and in living out, the important advent themes of: hope, peace, joy and love.
We're calling the series Advent with Friends, and you won't want to miss it. For more information about the series, click the image above.
CHRISTMAS EVE DAY SERVICES | 8:00AM, 9:45AM, and 11:30AM
As we enter into the holiday season, and our thoughts turn toward Christmas and the birth of Jesus, we wanted to give you some save the date info to help you along in your holiday calendaring. This year is a little different for us, since Christmas Eve itself falls on a Sunday. So instead of the evening services that we usually do on Christmas Eve evening, this year we'll be hosting three morning services on Christmas Eve day, at: 8:00am, 9:45am, and 11:30am. Kids Ministry will be available in all three services for kiddos age four and under only, with the older kids joining in the main services with their parents. Mark your calendars now for Christmas Eve morning, and join us as we celebrate the birth of our Lord together.
DECEMBER 24 | CHILD DEDICATIONS
Several times each year we have the joy of partnering with parents, and our whole church family, in praying for and in dedicating the new babies and younger children of our church to God. To register your child and be part of this special time during any of our three Sunday services on Christmas Eve Day complete the registration form now.
This week our Featured Resource is a blog post from our friends at the Gospel Coalition that helps us better understand the geopolitical world of first-century Palestine which is the backdrop for much of what we've been reading about in our Gospel of John Sermon Series. The article is entitled Reading the Gospels: Do You Know the 7 Differences between Galilee and Judea in the Time of Jesus?, and it offers us a much appreciated serving of historical context to help us make the most of our studies in the Book of John.
KIDS MINISTRY | SERVING OPPORTUNITIES
Our Kids Ministry has a really good problem—there’s tons of kids that show up every single week to learn about Jesus! But the problem we’re facing as we grow, is not always having enough Kids Ministry Team members to serve all the kids showing up each week. That means we could really use your help. We’d invite you to prayerfully consider if God might be asking you to join this awesome team of volunteers committed to helping all the kids of Sound City to increasingly know, love, and live for Jesus. Please prayerfully consider serving in this important ministry.
