Hey church family! Here’s what you need to know for this week Sound City.
CELEBRATING | CONNECT GROUP, 2018 LAUNCH
For those unfamiliar with the Connect Group, it’s our Sunday afternoon temporary-by-design Community Group that has as its primary goal: helping all who come to find the best possible long-term Community Group fit. It’s also a place to where you’ll meet new people, learn about biblical community, and experience it as well. Just over a week ago the Connect Group kicked off its 2018 year with a dozen or so folks, looking to grow, do, and experience those very things! It was a great time of connection, learning, sharing, and prayer. This week we’re celebrating this great start to the year for our Connect Group, and that God is busy using this group to stir the hearts of more and more of us towards a greater experience of biblical community and growth in him. Join us this week in prayer and celebration these evidences of God’s grace to our church family. And if you’re not in a Community Group already, come join us!
THIS WEEK AT SOUND CITY BIBLE CHURCH
THIS SUNDAY’S SERMON | JOHN 5:1–18
This Sunday, we are excited to welcome our first guest speaker of 2018, Rabbi Matt Rosenberg from Restoration Messianic Synagogue. Matt will be teaching from John 5:1–18, where Jesus heals the disabled man at the Pool of Bethesda. In this remarkable story, we have the opportunity to be confronted by the same question that Jesus asked the man, “Do you want to be healed?” Join us as Rabbi Matt teaches us from this important section of John’s gospel!
COMING SOON | MARK YOUR CALENDARS

Staring February 1, we’ll be hosting a financial stewardship class called, Financial Peace University (FPU). This class teaches sound biblical principles on topics ranging from: savings, tithing, managing debt, budgeting, mortgages, insurance, and more, and the curriculum comes from well known expert in the field, Dave Ramsey. The nine-week class will be facilitated by Sound City Covenant Members, at our church offices, from 6:30pm–8:30pm each Thursday.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3 | STUDENT MINISTRY, MOVIE NIGHT
Calling all 6th-12th graders, we're excited to invite you to join us at the church offices from 6:00pm-8:30pm for a fun movie night. Pizza and drinks will be provided, please send your student(s) with $5 to help us cover the cost. *Note: If your student has food allergies, please send them with their own food and then skip the $5 cost.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4 | SUPER BOWL MISSIONAL OPPORTUNITY
As Christians who desire to build gospel-centered friendships with our non-Christian friends and neighbors, the Super Bowl marks one of the great invitational opportunities we have each year. Whether it's with your Community Group or just with your next-door neighbors, we'd invite you to consider who you might prayerfully invite to spend Super Bowl Sunday with you. You might even invite them to church with you that morning too. Either way, with the big game still being a couple weeks away, this is the perfect time to add some gospel intentionality to your Super Bowl planning! By the way, the game starts at 3:30pm PST, in case you were wondering.

We've been talking a lot about 'fruitfulness' lately as we work to discern where God is leading us as we move into our fourth year together as a church. In that light, our Featured Resources for this week are a pair of blog posts from the members of our team on the theme of fruitfulness.
