Hey church family! Happy Holy Week to you! Here’s what you need to know for this week at Sound City.
CELEBRATING | MARKER DRIVE FOR HEED UGANDA
This week we are celebrating the generosity of those of you who have partnered with our Kids Ministry to donate markers to the children of the HEED Uganda school. Julie Secreist—Covenant Member of Sound City—is heading to Uganda next week, and we are excited to be sending her with a bin full of markers to help meet the school's need. Although the official marker drive is over, there is still time if you would like to donate more markers. Just drop them by the church offices before this Thursday, March 29th at 5:00pm. Join us this week in celebrating the partnership God has formed between Sound City and the ministry founded and led so faithfully by our friend Julie. Join us this week in prayer and thanksgiving for this opportunity to enjoy meeting the needs of God's people not only in the North Seattle region, but around the world in places like Mexico and Uganda as well. What an evidence of God's grace to us that he would include us in his work of loving and ministering to his people in the name of his divine Son, Jesus.
THIS WEEK AT SOUND CITY BIBLE CHURCH
THIS SUNDAY’S SERMON | JOHN 7:37–52 | RIVERS OF LIVING WATER
Do you know why the church gathers on Sundays? Because that’s the day of the week that Jesus rose from the dead. But this Sunday is extra special—Easter Sunday—the date in the church year where we take extra time to reflect on the resurrection of Jesus. Join us as we look at John 7:37–52 and Jesus’ claim to be able to satisfy our thirsty hearts. Not only did Jesus claim this, but we can trust that his claims are true because he has been “glorified” (resurrected).
REFLECTING | STUDENT MINISTRY WINTER RETREAT
Back in early March, the Sound City Student Ministry headed up to the mountains for their first ever Winter Retreat. It was an amazing time for both the students and leaders who attended. There was a combined 32 student and leaders who took to the snow and enjoyed being in God’s beautiful creation for a time of worship and studying God’s Word, as well as many opportunities for fun and fellowship. COMING SOON | MARK YOUR CALENDARS
MARCH 30 & APRIL 1 | GOOD FRIDAY & EASTER SUNDAY
GOOD FRIDAY. This year for Good Friday we're doing something a little different. Sound City will be celebrating Good Friday with a couple local church partners that we're honored to call our friends. For those on the north end, join us for Good Friday at Foundation Church in Everett, for a 6:30pm service. Kids Ministry will be available during the service, and Pastor Aaron will be leading worship. Directions to Foundation Church can be found here.
For those on the south end, join us for Good Friday at Cross and Crown Church in the U-District for the 6:00pm or 7:30pm service. Both services will have Kids Ministry for the little ones (Nursery–4 years), and our very own Pete Wilson will be leading worship at both services. Since the U-District area can be a little tricky to navigate, here's some additional location information that may be helpful to you:
Church Address. 4554 12th Ave. NE, Seattle WA 98105
Family Drop-Off. Family drop off is available in front of the church on 12th Ave. NE; it will be coned off and marked with a sign. Families can proceed straight up the stairs and proceed past the kids play space to the Parlor and Kids Ministry Check-In.
Parking. There is FREE parking in the UDPA Parking Lot located on the south side of the church. The Parking Lot is accessed from Brooklyn Av. NE. Proceed through the front portion of the parking lot that is connected to the DECA Hotel and reserved for construction parking. Park in spaces closest to the south side of the church. After parking, proceed to the alley entrance on the east side of the church, or use the stairs on the west side of the parking lot that drop down to 12th street and proceed to church front entrance on 12th street. Street Parking is also available on side streets surrounding the church.
EASTER SUNDAY. For Easter Sunday, we will gather together as a church family back at Lynnwood High School at our regular service times, 9am and 11am. Join us for worship, prayer, and jubilation as we celebrate the empty tomb and the resurrection of Jesus.
APRIL 7 | STEADFAST CONFERENCE AT FOUNDATION CHURCH
We live in a transitional culture. Changes to jobs, schools, and houses are regular events affecting our relationships, communities, and churches. Many people move for work or other opportunities, and in our churches, change is a constant. As Christians, how do we find what it takes to serve faithfully in our ever-changing church community? Where do we go to be encouraged and equipped to thrive for the long-term as active members of local churches?
Join us at Foundation Church in Everett for a half-day conference, called Steadfast, to be encouraged and equipped for healthy, joyful service in your local church. Dave Harvey, Executive Director of Sojourn Network, will be the main session speaker. There is a $10 fee for the conference, which will include light refreshments and a copy of Dave Harvey's book, Rescuing Ambition. For more information on the conference, or to register for the event, click here.
This week's featured resource comes from our friends at Crossway. This chronological series of short videos explores the background and significance of history-shaping events that occurred each day of Holy Week (i.e. Jesus' last week on earth, leading up to his resurrection).
