Hey church family! Here’s what you need to know for this week at Sound City.
CELEBRATING | EASTER AT SOUND CITY
This past Sunday, we joined together for a day full of worship and celebration! This week we're celebrating all the new faces that joined us for Easter services, and for all those who call Sound City Bible Church home who extended invitations to their friends, family co-workers, and others to gather with us on Sunday to sing, pray, and hear the good news of the empty tomb and our resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ. After Pastor Aaron's sermon continuing in our series in the Gospel of John, we were treated to donuts, refreshments served by our dedicated hospitality volunteers, and a photo booth (check out our Facebook page) set up and run by Covenant Member Kaitlin Catlin.
We're also thankful for the numerous other volunteers who served the 575 who joined us this Resurrection Sunday—from the worship band to Kids Ministry volunteers, and everywhere in-between. Please join us in prayer and thankgiving as we continue to celebrate that Christ is risen, alive and at work in our midst, and for the opportunity to come together with old and news friends to celebrate God's ultimate gift to us—His son Jesus—whom he sent to die and rise again, for his glory and our good. What a gracious God we serve, and what a Savior we have in Jesus!
THIS WEEK AT SOUND CITY BIBLE CHURCH
THIS SUNDAY’S SERMON | JOHN 8:1–11 | "GO, AND SIN NO MORE"
This Sunday, as we continue through the Gospel of John, we come across a well-known story in John 7:53–8:11 where Jesus shows grace to the woman caught in adultery. Not only do we get to look into the tension between Jesus’ two statements, “let him without sin cast the first stone…now go and sin no more,” we get to look into textual issues surrounding this section of John. Join us for this important study of a challenging passage!
APRIL 7 | STEADFAST CONFERENCE AT FOUNDATION CHURCH
We live in a transitional culture. Changes to jobs, schools, and houses are regular events affecting our relationships, communities, and churches. Many people move for work or other opportunities, and in our churches, change is a constant. As Christians, how do we find what it takes to serve faithfully in our ever-changing church community? Where do we go to be encouraged and equipped to thrive for the long-term as active members of local churches? Join us this Saturday at Foundation Church in Everett for a half-day conference, called Steadfast, to be encouraged and equipped for healthy, joyful service in your local church. Dave Harvey, Executive Director of Sojourn Network, will be the main session speaker. There is a $10 fee for the conference, which will include light refreshments and a copy of Dave Harvey's book, Rescuing Ambition.

APRIL 24, DISCIPLESHIP EVENT | FRAGMENTS OF TRUTH: CAN WE TRUST THE BIBLE?
Have you ever wondered about the trustworthiness of the Bible, or have friends that do? Or maybe you’ve desired to get better equipped to defend the authenticity of the Scriptures with others? In either case, this discipleship event is for you. On April 24, Pastor Shane will be leading this discipleship-oriented ‘Field Trip’ to the Regal Alderwood 7 theater at 7pm, where those in attendance will view this documentary film together at this one-night-only event. Head over to the event page for more information, to watch the trailer for this film, and to register. Oh, also, the first 20 people to register for this event will go for FREE (yes, we’ll cover the $13 ticket price, but you’re on your own for popcorn)!
BAPTISM EVENT | COMING SOON
Baptism is an important symbol in the Christian faith, as a physical representation of each Christian's personal connection to Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. As Jesus died and rose again, so we too go under the waters and are raised again in a new life. If you're a Christian and have never been baptized in order to declare yourself part of Christ's family and to joyfully declare/demonstrate your faith as the Bible instructs us to, then consider signing up now for our upcoming event, and we'll update you ASAP as the dates and other details are finalized!
This week's featured resource is a video series called "Nua" from our online video discipleship library, called RightNow Media. This tool/library is great for finding additional teaching content for your Community Group, for marriage and family devotional times, and for personal study. While the whole series is good, be sure to check out video 2 of the series in particular, to help prepare you for some of what we'll be delving into in this Sunday's sermon, about the legitimacy and accuracy of Scripture.
If you already have a free RightNow Media account, click the image below to head directly to the series page. No account? No problem! Just head over to scbc.do/rightnowmedia to sign up for one.
If you're not currently part of a Community Group, come join us this Sunday for the Connect Group, from 3pm–5pm at the church offices in Lynnwood (4720 200th Street SW, Suite 200, Lynnwood, WA 98036). The Connect Group is our temporary-by-design Community Group that has as its primary goal: helping all who come to find the best possible long-term Community Group fit. It’s also a place to where you’ll meet new people, learn about biblical community, and experience it as well.
