Volunteers are critical in the life of the church. There is no church in the world who could hire enough staff members to do everything. Not only would that be impractical, it would fall short of God’s vision for the church, where all the saints of God are to be equipped “for the work of the ministry” (Eph. 4:12).
At Sound City Bible Church, we have a veritable army of volunteers. Music and production, children’s ministry and security, hospitality and greeters, financial stewards and small group leaders…our church is blessed to have so many members involved in serving and leading the church. It is not an exaggeration to say that if it were not for these servant-hearted men and women, Sound City Bible Church would not be able to fulfill the mission that God has given to us.
It’s not just the sheer number of volunteers that is so encouraging; it is their hearts! Week in and week out, the people of Sound City serve with faithfulness, with joy, and with love for God and the other people of the church.
On Friday, December 7, the elders and staff organized a Christmas party for the volunteers as a way to say “thank you” for all their labors and love. The people enjoyed some delicious hors d'oeuvres and desserts, followed by a time of sharing testimonies of God’s grace. Then, each table participated in a “white elephant” gift exchange. The night ended with each volunteer receiving a gift of a shiny new Sound City Bible Church water bottle. The event left everyone feeling encouraged, and a spirit of joy permeated the entire night.
Join us in thanking God for such an amazing group of godly, servant-hearted volunteers! If you would like to get involved in serving, visit our serve page to get started.
