Kids Ministry - Sunday Focus | 4/22 - 5/27

Hey Sound City families,

Each week our Kids Ministry gathers to learn and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Over the next several weeks your child(ren) (3rd grade and younger) will be having a ton of fun as they learn from God's Word how to better know, love, and live for Jesus. Below is a breakdown of where we are going over the next six weeks.

Session 1 | April 22, 2018

“Children of God” (Romans 8:12-39)

  • Because Jesus died on the cross, God the Father welcomes us and promises a future with Him forever.
  • Believers are God’s children—freed from sin, given power to do what is right, and adopted into God’s family.

Session 2 | April 29, 2018

“A Transformed Mind” (Romans 12:1-18; 1 Corinthians 1:9; Philippians 1:3-7)

  • God wants us to love one another. Believers all belong to Jesus. His death and resurrection bring us together.
  • The Holy Spirit changes the way we think and live so we can love one another as God has loved us.

Session 3 | May 6, 2018

"The Fruit of the Spirit" (Galatians 5:16-26)

  • People saved by Jesus become more like Him. The Holy Spirit gives them power to live in a way that pleases God.
  • Paul told the Galatian church how to recognize God working in them.

Session 4 | May 13, 2018

“The Armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-19)

  • Jesus died and rose from the dead. We can fight the battle against evil, knowing Jesus already won the war.
  • Believers must be ready to fight a spiritual battle every day.

Session 5 | May 20, 2018

“A Cheerful Giver” (2 Corinthians 8:1-15; 9:6-15)

  • Jesus showed what generosity looks like when He gave His life to save us. Because of Him, we can be generous too.
  • God has been merciful and generous to us. He gave us His own Son. Because of Jesus, we can be generous to others.

Session 6 | May 27, 2018

“Heroes of Faith” (Hebrews 11:1–12:2)

  • The true hero of the Bible is Jesus. Because of Jesus, the things the faithful people looked for will come true.
  • People in the Bible had faith, but the true hero is Jesus. Because of Jesus, we know God keeps His promises.

Big Picture Question: Who Changes Us?

The Holy Spirit changes us to be like Jesus for God’s glory.

Key Passage:

Help your child review and memorize this unit’s key passage: –"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!

Thank you for taking the time to review what your kids will be learning in church for the next several weeks. Our goal is to partner with you, the parents, in helping every child to know, love, and live for Jesus.

For God's glory,
