Sunday Focus | 11/4-11/25

Hey Sound City families,

Each week our Kids Ministry gathers to learn and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Over the next several weeks your child(ren) (3rd grade and younger) will be having a ton of fun as they learn from God's Word how to better know, love, and live for Jesus. Below is a breakdown of where we are going over the next four weeks.

Session 1 | November 4th, 2018

“The Stolen Blessing” (Genesis 25:27-34; 27:1-45)

  • We do not have to lie or trick God to get a blessing. Jesus paid for our sins on the cross and gives us eternal life.

  • Jacob tricked his father to steal Esau’s blessing of land, riches, and power. Esau was angry! Jacob had to run away.

Session 2 | November 11th, 2018

“Jacob’s New Name” (Genesis 32–33)

  • God changed Jacob’s life and gave him a new name. When we are adopted into God’s family, we are called His children.

  • A man (God) wrestled with Jacob all night. Jacob wasn’t letting go without a blessing! God gave him the name Israel.

Session 3 | November 18th, 2018

“Joseph Sent to Egypt” (Genesis 37:1-36; 39:1–41:57)

  • God sent Joseph to Egypt and put him in a position of power. Jesus gave up His position of power to save the world.

  • God was with Joseph in the pit, in Potiphar’s house, and in jail. God sent Joseph to Egypt to help many people.

Session 4 | November 25th, 2018

“Joseph’s Dreams Came True” (Genesis 42:1–46:34; 50:15-21)

  • God allowed Joseph to suffer to rescue a nation. Jesus suffered so people from all nations would be saved.

Big Picture Question: What can stop God’s plan?

Nothing can stop God’s perfect plan.

Key Passage:

Help your child review and memorize this units key passage:

– Genesis 26:24: “I am the God of Abraham your father. Fear not, for I am with you and will bless you and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”

Thank you for taking the time to review what your kids will be learning in church for the next several weeks. Our goal is to partner with you, the parents, in helping every child to know, love, and live for Jesus.

For God's glory,

The Kids Ministry Team
