Sunday Focus | 12/2-12/23

Hey Sound City families,

Each week our Kids Ministry gathers to learn and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Over the next several weeks your child(ren) (3rd grade and younger) will be having a ton of fun as they learn from God's Word how to better know, love, and live for Jesus. Below is a breakdown of where we are going over the next four weeks.

Session 1 (Unit 4) | December 2nd, 2018

“Moses Was Born and Called” (Exodus 1:8–2:10,23-25; 3:1–4:20)

  • Moses delivered God’s people from physical captivity; Jesus delivered God’s people from captivity to sin.

  • God saved Moses as a baby so that he would grow up and be used to rescue God’s people from bondage in Egypt.

Session 1 (Unit 5) | December 9th, 2018

“Angels Spoke to Mary and Joseph” (Luke 1:26-56; Matthew 1:18-24)

  • The baby Jesus fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy, as well as other Old Testament prophecies, about the coming Savior.

  • Angels told Mary and Joseph they would be the earthly parents of Jesus who would be born to rescue people from sin.

Session 2 (Unit 5) | December 16th, 2018

“Jesus Was Born” (Luke 2:1-20)

  • Jesus was not an ordinary baby. He was God’s Son, sent to earth from heaven to save people from their sins.

  • Jesus was born to be God’s promised Savior just as God had promised. His birth was clothed in humility and splendor.

Session 3 (Unit 5) | December 23rd, 2018

“Wise Men Visited Jesus” (Matthew 2:1-21)

  • The wise men came to worship Jesus as King. Jesus is the true King, promised in 2 Samuel 7, worthy of all our worship.

  • The wise men traveled from far away while King Herod who was nearby wanted to destroy Jesus.

Big Picture Question: Why was Jesus born?

Jesus was born to rescue us from sin.
