Hey Sound City families,
Each week our Kids Ministry gathers to learn and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Over the next several weeks your child(ren) (3rd grade and younger) will be having a ton of fun as they learn from God's Word how to better know, love, and live for Jesus. Below is a breakdown of where we are going over the next few weeks.
Session 1 | January 27th, 2019
“The Ten Commandments: Love Others” (Exodus 20:12-17)
The law shows what God requires—perfect righteousness. We aren’t perfect. Jesus is and He paid our punishment for sin.
God gave the 10 Commandments to show He is holy and we are sinners. The last six commands show us how to love others.
Session 2 | February 3rd, 2019
“The Tabernacle Was Built” (Exodus 35:4-40:38)
God sent Jesus to “tabernacle,” or dwell, with us.
God told the people to build a tabernacle so He could dwell with them. They obeyed and followed God’s instructions.
Session 3 | February 10th, 2019
“God Gave Rules for Sacrifice” (Leviticus 1-27)
The sacrifices God required hinted of how God was going to forgive sinners through Jesus, the perfect sacrifice.
God established rules for sacrifice to provide a way for His people to be forgiven of their sins.
Session 4 | February 17th, 2019
“Worship Only God” (Deuteronomy 1; 3:23-4:40)
Moses told the people to worship only God. We receive eternal life one way, by trusting in His Son, Jesus.
Moses commanded the people to worship God alone because there is no other God besides Him.
Session 5 | February 24th, 2019
“God Reminded His People of His Covenant” (Deuteronomy 5:1-6:25; 8:1-11:1,26-28)
God commanded His people to be holy but He knew they wouldn’t be. His plan was for Jesus to rescue people from sin.
God reminded His people of the unconditional covenant promises He made with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and them.
Big Picture Question: Who can keep God’s law?
No one can keep God’s law perfectly except Jesus.
Help your child review and memorize this units key passage:
– Leviticus 11:45: “I am the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.”
Thank you for taking the time to review what your kids will be learning in church for the next several weeks. Our goal is to partner with you, the parents, in helping every child to know, love, and live for Jesus.
For God's glory,
The Kids Ministry Team
