Welcome to this month’s Student Ministry Newsletter. It’s our goal to keep you informed and give you all the info you’d need as parents to support and encourage the work the Student Ministry aims to do in helping every student to know, love, and live for Jesus.
As fall is officially underway, we are eagerly anticipating all of the fun events coming in the next few months! For more details about upcoming events see the Save The Date section below.
In addition to all the fun we will be having, we are starting the year off by taking a look at what the Bible has to say about gathering together. We will also be taking a deeper look at our vision statement as a ministry, with the goal that we will grow in our understanding, and a deeper passion for why we exist as a ministry. Our vision statement is, Sound City Students exist to help students to know, love, and live for Jesus. Each week we will spend time reading God’s Word and unpacking what it means to be disciples of Jesus in today’s world.
This month we’re celebrating the return to our regular small groups on Wednesday nights! Starting on October 3rd, we’ll be back in the rhythm of meeting in grade and gender-based small groups to discuss each week’s teaching. We’ve found that small groups provide a space for students and leaders to share deeply about their lives to encourage and pray for one another, all while relating back to the teaching for the evening. We eagerly anticipate the bonds that will be formed during our small group time this year!
SAVE THE DATE
Our hope and desire is that all our students are able to participate in every opportunity to grow closer to each other and to Jesus as we serve, play, and worship together. Please make note of the following dates. Also, be sure to check back here as well as the Sound City Students FB page on occasion for event details and updates.
October 24 | Halloween Party: As Autumn returns, we like to celebrate the new season with a costume party complete with games, light snacks and festive drinks like apple cider. Students are encouraged to dress up in a costume but this is certainly not a requirement. There will be a photo booth setup for students to take photos with their friends! Location: Sound City Bible Church Offices (where we normally meet on Wednesdays) - 4720 200th St SW #200, Lynnwood, WA 98036
October 31 | No Students: Please note that due to Halloween falling on a Wednesday this year, we will not be gathering that evening but hope instead that students will be able to spend quality time with their families.
November 14 | Small Group Scavenger Hunt: This event was a big hit last year! We will meet at the church offices (4720 200th St SW #200, Lynnwood, WA 98036) and split up into our small groups to complete a photo scavenger hunt around Lynnwood! More details will follow as we solidify planning for this event.
Please pray for our students as they begin the school year, especially for those who may be attending new schools and making new friends.
Pray for our students to be saturated with the gospel and to have the courage to share their faith with the world around them.
Please pray for the students, the leaders, their families, and the Student Ministry as a whole.
