Hey Sound City Families,
Each week our Younger Students class gathers to learn and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Over the next several weeks your child(ren) (4th and 5th grades) will be having a ton of fun as well as grappling with some tough topics and digging into what God's Word teaches about living in today's world.
During the month of June, we discussed “what matters most". Several conversations centered around how we as humans tend to focus on being right and being the best, but that God calls us to love Him above all others, serve Him out of love (not obligation or seeking glory for ourselves), and show humility. It’s super encouraging to see the kids tackle these topics, especially since as adults we still struggle with wanting to be right and glorify ourselves. The kids also shared how they have been trying to grow closer to God in various ways.
We are excited to help your children to better know, love, and live for Jesus. Below is a breakdown of where we are going over the next several weeks.

Grapple Question: Is It Really Sin if You Don’t Know It Is?
Kids Learn: The Holy Spirit Guides Us
Dig Into the Bible: Genesis 3:1-19; Proverbs 24:12; John 15:22-24; 16:5-15; James 4:17
Does your preteen ever say, “But I didn’t know it was wrong!” when confronted about something? Excuses, excuses! As a parent, you’re trying to teach your child right from wrong…but you’re not alone in this difficult task. God provides the Bible and the Holy Spirit to guide your child, too. Even though you can’t always physically be there to guide your child’s choices, he or she can still learn to make decisions that would please God by paying attention to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Isn’t it great to know you have a parenting helper?

Grapple Question: Can I Do Something So Bad It’ll Keep Me Out of Heaven?
Kids Learn: The Unpardonable Sin
Dig Into the Bible: Matthew 12:31-32; John 5:24; 10:27-30; Hebrews 10:26-31
As a parent, you understand the concept of unconditional love. Even when your kids make disappointing decisions, are unbelievably annoying, or bring embarrassing attention to your personal flaws, you continue to accept them and teach them in love. God looks at His children the same way. God knows that we mess up every day, that we sin repeatedly, and that we continually have to go back and ask for forgiveness. And God promises that through Jesus we can have all our sins erased and live forever in Heaven. We just have to believe in Jesus and accept His forgiveness. Give your kids an extra hug tonight, and remember that God loves and forgives you, too!
Thank you for taking the time to review what your kids will be learning in church for the next several weeks. Our goal is to partner with you, the parents, in helping every child to know, love, and live for Jesus.
For God's glory,
The Kids Ministry Team
