Celebrating | 2019 Mexico Mission Trip

Last month, I had the privilege of leading a team from Sound City down to Vicente Guerrero, Mexico to serve and love the people in this community. This is our 3rd year as a church to partner with Foundation For His Ministry (FFHM). To read more about our partnership with FFHM and our other International Missions partners, go to scbc.do/international-missions!

It’s always amazing to see the Lord work through each mission team, and this year was no exception.

We welcomed Kris and James from the local DCYF office on March 17th. They shared with us the impact of Sound City’s generosity as we continue to seek to support, encourage, and care for the foster children, families, and DCYF staff in our community.

How To Worship at Home With Your Family

“Family worship at home” sometimes get a bad rap because people use it as an excuse to…well, not worship at home with their family. Celebrating | Armenia Mission Support

This past fall Sound City Bible Church donated money to the Armenia Mission, one of the international mission organizations we support as a church. The money was used to fund a pastors conference in Armenia. Sam and Shoushan Saliban, covenant members of Sound City, oversee this multi church ministry in Armenia, that is focused on making disciples, planting churches, caring for widows and orphans, and so much more.

Uganda Medical Outreach

Uganda Medical Outreach

This October, a small team from our church family will be traveling to a remote village in Uganda on a short-term mission trip. We will be serving alongside HEED Uganda, a mission organization that was started by one of Sound City's very own Covenant Members. To learn more about the amazing work God is doing through HEED Uganda, visit http://www.heeduganda.org/.

While in Uganda one of our primary missions will be medical outreach, specifically to help fight against Malaria. Malaria is one of the highest causes of death in this region. We are hoping to reach around 1,000 people, including school children and their families, and even the surrounding villages and communities.

Disaster Preparation and the Gospel

Disaster Preparation and the Gospel

John, a member of Sound City, recently came forward and offered some insights with me on how we as a church can best love and serve people in times of disaster. The conversation was very helpful for me, so I thought it was a good opportunity to share it with our larger church community. Here’s the interview!

We Have a New Website!

We Have a New Website!

If you're reading this, welcome to the newly redesigned website of Sound City Bible Church! Over the last few weeks and months, one of our Covenant Members has worked very hard to make the site that you're now enjoying. Thank you, Jesus, for generous and faithful volunteers who know how to make technology work! Let me highlight a few features that we're excited about.

Mission pt. 5 | Being Disciples

Mission pt. 5 | Being Disciples

Every church on the planet ought to have something about making disciples as part of their mission statement. However, what often gets forgotten is the last part of Jesus’ words: “and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Before we get to work making disciples, we must first remember to remain connected to Jesus as disciples ourselves. The making of disciples flows out of first being disciples.

Mission pt. 4 | Receiving Grace

Mission pt. 4 | Receiving Grace

A mission statement is a rallying cry, a purpose to exist, something to call the people of the church to. Why then did we choose to put something that seems passive in our mission statement? It was certainly not because we wanted to be novel or original. Instead, this part of the mission statement was born out of the realization that all of the Christian life is one of grace.

Mission pt. 3 | Proclaiming Jesus

Mission pt. 3 | Proclaiming Jesus

In part 2 of this series, we said that our mission as a church begins with God’s glory. Anything and everything else we do serves that ultimate goal and purpose. God’s glory is displayed in a variety of ways – in nature, in beauty, in wisdom, in truth. But, as we saw in the previous post, the ultimate display of God’s glory is in the person and work of Jesus.
