Welcome to this month’s Student Ministry Newsletter. It’s our goal to keep you informed and give you all the info you’d need as parents to support and encourage the work the Student Ministry aims to do in helping every student to know, love, and live for Jesus.
In the month of December, we have much to reflect on as we remember Jesus’ love for us and celebrate the inauguration of his life here on earth. Along with this season of thankfulness, we hope you parents enjoy some quality time with your students, as we will only be meeting on two Wednesday evenings this month. On 12/5, students will learn about how God’s plan has always been to make disciples, and on 12/12, we will have our annual Student Ministry Christmas Party. The year is flying by!
This month, we are celebrating the sharing which has been taking place during our Wednesday night gatherings. To quote one leader, “it’s been encouraging to see students break out of ‘repeating the correct answers back to us’ and move into actually sharing where they are in life and in their relationships with God. This is so important because they are establishing why they believe what they believe and establishing a deeper relationship with God through it, which will help them both now and later on in life.” Another leader mentioned that she’s seen students grow in their willingness to share struggles, doubts, and fears and has noticed that even the quiet ones are tending to share voluntarily.
Our desire is to share the love of Christ in such a way that the students feel safe to share what’s truly going on in their lives. It’s a privilege that the students trust us with their doubts and insecurities and our hope as leaders is to model the Apostle Paul’s command to “bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2). Please continue to pray for us, that we would humbly steward the students’ hearts and that the students themselves would continue to be open in sharing struggles, and would find healing in Christ through his body of believers.
SAVE THE DATE
Our hope and desire is that all our students are able to participate in every opportunity to grow closer to each other and to Jesus as we serve, play, and worship together. Please pray for our students as they enter the upcoming Christmas break - that their hearts would honor the Lord and not be caught up in materialism or in laziness away from school.
Pray for our students to be saturated with the gospel and to have the courage to share their faith with the world around them.
Please pray for the students, the leaders, their families, and the Student Ministry as a whole: that we would seek the Lord above all else and love one another with the love of Christ.
