Parent Resources: Students | February 2019

Welcome to this month’s Student Ministry Newsletter. It’s our goal to keep you informed and give you all the info you’d need as parents to support and encourage the work the Student Ministry aims to do in helping every student to know, love, and live for Jesus.

Happy New Year, parents! It is with grateful hearts that we look back on all that God has done for us in 2018 and with eager anticipation we look forward to how He will continue to show his faithfulness in the year to come. During the month of January, we will be continuing to work through our curriculum - “The Life” - in which we explore what it looks like to live life as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Through this study, we’ll explore why the life of a disciple is not optional for Christians as well as how Jesus calls us to an all-encompassing commitment to following him. We look forward to seeing how the Lord continues to work as we dive into these topics! Additionally, during the month of February we will be doing a special ‘Tough Topics’ series. Be sure to keep an eye out for an email we’ll be sending with more details for this series.

This month, we are celebrating the start of a new year! In our first gathering of the year, we were able to set aside time as a group to reflect on things we are thankful for from 2018, and pray for things we anticipate in 2019. After writing these on our white board, we split into groups to pray together, thanking God for his wonderful provision, and lifting up our requests for what is to come. This was a sweet time for the students and leaders to join together in worshiping God as we reflect on his goodness toward us. It was also a wonderful opportunity for us all to practice praying together for one another.

Our hope and desire is that all our students are able to participate in every opportunity to grow closer to each other and to Jesus as we serve, play, and worship together. Please make note of the following dates. Also, be sure to check back here as well as the Sound City Students FB page on occasion for event details and updates.

January 26-27 | Winter Retreat

February 20 | No Students: Mid-Winter Break

March 13 | Worship Night

April 10 | No Students: Spring Break

  • Please pray for our students that as they resume their normal school schedules, they would create time to pursue the Lord through spiritual disciplines such as prayer and scripture reading.

  • Pray for our students to be saturated with the gospel and to be witnesses for Jesus amongst their friends.

  • Please pray for the students, the leaders, their families, and the Student Ministry as a whole; that we would seek the Lord above all else and love one another with the love of Christ.
