Parent Resources: Students | April 2019

Welcome to this month’s Student Ministry Newsletter. It’s our goal to keep you informed and give you all the info you’d need as parents to support and encourage the work the Student Ministry aims to do in helping every student to know, love, and live for Jesus.

The month of April will be relatively low-key for the student ministry. As we’re wrapping up our Tough Topics teaching series at the end of March, we’ll be transitioning back into our curriculum for the year which explores various aspects of the life of a disciple of Jesus. We’re extremely encouraged with how the year has gone so far and look forward to all that Springtime has to offer!

This month we’re celebrating two of our leaders, Brandon and Rachel Bradshaw, and the birth of their son Logan! We’ve eagerly anticipated Logan’s arrival and are so happy for Brandon and Rachel as they begin their parenthood journey.

We are also celebrating the conversations that our Tough Topics teachings have sparked so far. Our goal in having this series has been to open the conversation about things like relationships, pornography, and gender identity and we as leaders have been encouraged by students’ responsiveness in sharing and asking questions during our discussion times afterward. We hope and pray that this series will allow students to feel comfortable bringing these topics up in the future, and that the Lord will guide them in developing a godly worldview of these areas.

Our hope and desire is that all our students are able to participate in every opportunity to grow closer to each other and to Jesus as we serve, play, and worship together. Please make note of the following dates. Also, be sure to check back here as well as the Sound City Students FB page on occasion for event details and updates.

April 10 | No Students - Spring Break

May 10 | Tentative - Students Overnight Event

  • More info to come - we’re reserving this date for a possible overnight event for the whole student ministry (potentially a camp-out or lock-in)

June 12 | Final Students Gathering of the 2018-’19 Year

July 10-14 | Summer Camp

  • Please pray for our students following our Tough Topics series, that they would seek to assimilate the material into their own lives as they pursue the Lord more and more.

  • Pray for protection against the enemy from the various ways he would seek to attack both our students and leaders: through apathy, doubt, sin, shame, and a litany of other ways that he attempts to paralyze us or make us ineffective for the kingdom. Pray we would recognize the attacks and stand firm in Christ in the midst of them.

  • Pray for our students to be saturated with the gospel and to be witnesses for Jesus among their friends and community.

  • Please pray for the students, the leaders, their families, and the Student Ministry as a whole; that we would seek the Lord above all else and love one another with the love of Christ.
