Parent Resources: Students | June 2019

Welcome to this month’s Student Ministry Newsletter. It’s our goal to keep you informed and give you all the info you’d need as parents to support and encourage the work the Student Ministry aims to do in helping every student to know, love, and live for Jesus.

For the month of June, the student ministry is focused on finishing the school year strong and looking ahead to an amazing summer! This month, we are wrapping up a teaching series on what it looks like to live out a gospel-centered life. We’ll also have an end of year recap on June 12th, our last Wednesday night gathering of the school year.

This month we’re celebrating our graduating seniors! Please join us in praying for and congratulating our graduating seniors. We invite all this years graduating seniors up on stage on Sunday, June 2nd during both the 9a and 11a worship gatherings. We will pray over them as they transition from high school to the next season of life. We will also have a small gift for them.

We’re also celebrating the success of a new format we’ve been trying out of Wednesday nights. In this format, instead of having a longer large-group teaching time, we have a much shorter teaching followed by a longer time spent in small groups discussing the topic. In this format, each student has a bible in their hands during small group and students are able to read scripture together to answer questions on the evening’s topics. We’ve found that students have become much more open to sharing and reading scripture, and also are a bit more engaged in answering questions than during our traditional small group time. We are praising God for these blessings!

Our hope and desire is that all our students are able to participate in every opportunity to grow closer to each other and to Jesus as we serve, play, and worship together. Please make note of the following dates. Also, be sure to check back here as well as the Sound City Students FB page on occasion for event details and updates.

June 12 | Final Students Gathering of the 2018-’19 School Year: As the school year comes to a close, our normal rhythms change a bit. We will take a break from our weekly Wed. night gatherings, but we will continue to have lots of fun together through the summer. We are currently planning a fun night for June 12th! We will meet from 6:45-8:30p at the Edmonds Marina Beach Park (Address: 470 Admiral Way, Edmonds, WA 98020). We are excited to spend this special night with the Students to celebrate the end of this school year.

June 22 | Students Pool Party: Students are invited to join us for our annual summer kick-off pool party. We will meet from 12-3p at Rick and Pam Crosby’s home in Shoreline. Address: 19126 15th Ave NW, Shoreline, WA 98177. Please send sunscreen, a towel, modest bathing suit, and fun pool toys. Food and drinks will be provided.

July 10-14 | Summer Camp: There are limited spots remaining and registration closes Sunday, June 16th. The cost for camp is $250 per student. Go to to register and pay for this years Student Summer Camp!

  • Please pray that our students would be diligent to pursue the Lord this summer, rather than falling into lazy patterns. Pray also that the relationships formed this school year would grow, rather than diminish over the summer months.

  • Pray for us leaders as we continue to plan for summer camp. We deeply desire God to move in both leaders’ and students’ lives but we need the Lord’s blessing and protection in order for that to be a reality.

  • Pray for our students to be saturated with the gospel and to be witnesses for Jesus among their friends and community.

  • Please pray for the students, the leaders, their families, and the Student Ministry as a whole; that we would seek the Lord above all else and love one another with the love of Christ.
