Because of the brokenness of the world, people often feel stepped on, pushed down, and low. By announcing the birth of Jesus to a lowly group of shepherds, God makes the good news of the gospel clear: the Savior has come to lift us up to be with him.

  1. Describe a time when you were looked down upon by others. How did that make you feel? How did you respond?

  2. What sinful ways are you tempted to respond when you feel low? How does the gospel free us and lift us up?

  3. What does the story of the lowly shepherds teach us about the dignity of our work?
