About the Series

As disciples of Jesus it is good for us to have our imaginations stirred as we envision what it looks like to live faithful, committed lives as followers of Jesus. Jesus used short, imaginative stories (parables) to paint a picture of life lived under his wise and loving rule: the kingdom of God.

Biblical scholar Klyne Snodgrass says it well: “Jesus was the master creator of story, and nothing is so attractive or so compelling as a good story. Children (and adults) do not say, ‘Tell me some facts’; they want a story. Stories are inherently interesting. Discourse we tolerate; to story we attend.”

Jesus told the crowds all these things in parables, and he did not tell them anything without a parable…
