Celebrating | 2019 Mexico Mission Trip

Last month, I had the privilege of leading a team from Sound City down to Vicente Guerrero, Mexico to serve and love the people in this community. This is our 3rd year as a church to partner with Foundation For His Ministry (FFHM). To read more about our partnership with FFHM and our other International Missions partners, go to scbc.do/international-missions!

It’s always amazing to see the Lord work through each mission team, and this year was no exception. The Lord was gracious to send a team who was eager to work hard and serve with love and unity; with one another, the other teams at the mission, the staff, and the local community. Our team, consisting of youth, grandparents, and everyone in between, worked on projects such as: gathering macadamia nuts in the orchard, babysitting, gardening, roofing, and various other jobs. It was a joy to see the Lord growing our love for Him and for one another through this experience.

There are many things we are celebrating as a team, but one of the most impactful this year was seeing first hand how God is using the mission in the surrounding communities. We had the privilege of visiting a newly constructed, government funded daycare center in Sinaloa, a neighboring town. This building stands out in this small town. It is beautiful! But even more exciting than that, is hearing how this daycare center came about. The Mexican government saw a need and built the daycare center. Having seen and heard all about FFHM and all they are doing in regards to restoring lives and bringing hope to the community in Jesus name, they contacted the mission and offered to hand over the keys to this brand new facility. The mission, through lots of prayer and seeking the Lord, believed they were suppose to take on this huge task of running the program, but there was one condition, they would only take it on if they could share the gospel and teach the kids about Jesus. To their surprise, the government agreed and now there are around 100 kids receiving an education, food, clean water, and most importantly the love and message of Christ on a day to day basis. Only God could orchestrate something like this, and FFHM is proud to make that known.

Join us in giving praise and thanks to the Lord, celebrating with us and alongside FFHM, and continuing to ask and pray for God to have his way down in the Baja, here in the PNW, and around the world.
