On Saturday, January 16th, Sound City Students hosted our first ever One-Day Discipleship Event. Attended by 29 students, the day was packed full of worship, teaching, small group meetings, breakout sessions, and games.
Our theme for the day was Know Your Worth, and we focused on the truth that God has given us each an intrinsic value which does not depend on outside evaluations. We tried to help our students understand that they are valuable because God has made them in His image, He knows them and cares about them every day of their lives, and He has given His Son Jesus to provide for them eternal life. We hope our students understand that nothing anyone can say or do to them can diminish their value in God's eyes.
One of the favorite parts of the day came near the end when the students had the opportunity to express their worth through their artistic talents. Students chose between visual art, music, drama, and dance. The art the students created was truly amazing and they thoroughly enjoyed this activity. There was also a group that chose to express their worth through acts of service by performing chores around the church.
