In December, we shared a brief update to let you know where we were financially as a church, where we see God leading us, and how you can participate in the mission God has given us. We invited Deacon Dale (catchy, huh?) to join us to give an update now that we've crossed over into the new year.
You Will Know Them By Their Fruits
As a church, we seem to have an ongoing theme of ‘fruitfulness’ showing up a lot lately. Fruitfulness is most certainly something to celebrate and pursue—for all of us as individuals as we walk out our faith, and as a church body. Not all fruit is good fruit, however. In fact, Jesus himself tells us to take note of the fruit that people produce, including being cautious of ‘bad fruit’ (Matthew 7:15–20).
Consumerism is the Enemy of Fruitfulness
Not only is consumerism everywhere, it’s harmful, both to us and to those we consume from. Even non-Christian sources are readily acknowledging that consumerism has become a real problem. But the good news of the gospel is thatJesus himself died and rose again to forgive us of our selfishness, our taking, and our lack of gratefulness. “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

What Are You Doing New Year's Eve (Morning)?
Year End Giving
Two Opportunities for Generosity
Advent With Friends
Four preachers from four churches in the Puget Sound region are taking the four traditional Advent themes and then sharing those messages at each of the four churches involved. Each preacher will share at a different church for each Sunday of Advent, with Christmas Eve Sunday spent at their home church. This means that the topics will be a little out of order from the traditional arrangement, but hey…what would the holidays be without a little chaos?
Student Ministry Scavenger Hunt
This past Sunday, our Student Ministry leaders took Sound City Students on a city wide adventure. Students jumped in the leader's cars and headed out from the offices on a Scavenger Hunt all around town. Each team was on a mission to earn more points than the other teams, which in reality meant winning the grand prize; frozen yogurt.
